Frank Portman (a.k.a. Dr. Frank) is an American singer, songwriter, and author of young adult literature. He is the singer and guitarist of the punk rock band The Mr. T Experience, for which he writes most of the songs. Portman’s musical style is characterized as pop punk and heavily influenced by the Ramones and other melodic rock bands. 

 

Portman started writing in the early years of the 21st century. King Dork, his debut, was published in 2006. It was inspired by The Mr. T Experience song ‘King Dork’ and it may be no surprise that music is what gets Portman’s protagonists through the day. His second novel, Andromeda Klein, was published in 2009. He currently works on a sequel to King Dork entitled King Dork Approximately.
